Double Double Restaurant Reviews
Comfort food at its best. Our server was quite gracious and attentive, serving us tea constantly. We recommend the green beans, fried rice with chicken and salty fish, egg white fried rice with scallops, deep fried squid, sweet and sour pork , salt and pepper silver fish and honey garlic spareribs
December 2024 Our first lunch stop upon arriving in Vancouver. We read many good and mixed reviews about this place. We were not disappointed to visit during less busy time. Aside from wrestling through the wet weather of BC, this restaurant prepared some truly comforting food. The porridge was silky, mouth watering and flavorful. The steam fish was delicious and impressive delicious. After years of traveling and eating Chinese food, I don’t get impressed easily. But this place delivery WOW to me. Although the timeliness of food preparation needs patience, I will not complain. Great job keeping the standard. Pricing is reasonable and portion size is sufficient. My rating as 5 is very satisfied Taste 5/5 outstanding. Temperature 5/5 Speed of service 3/5 food ordering is fine but long wait. Attentive and courteous 5/5. We took the advice from the waitress. Good choice Cleanliness 3/5 Will I revisit? No question Will I recommend? YES!
Here for the great authentic food. Not the service! Trying to get someone to put your name on the waiting list is already a task on its own. If you can look pass the waitresses talking loudly (maybe yelling) to one another or even trying to flag someone down for service; you’ll be treated with really good authentic Chinese food. Dishes came out really fast and hot. Our go to favourite congee is #88 HK Style Sampan & Jelly Fish Congee. Smooth and always flavourful. The second go to dish is #49 Aged Soy Sauce Wings Lo Mein Aged Soy Sauce. #237 Golden Bitter Melon w/Salted Egg Yolk. You had me at Salted Egg Yolk. You must end your dining experience with the #2 Sweet Chinese Donut. Hot from the deep fryer and into your hands. So crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Just the right amount of sweetness. Would not recommend the Cold Lemon Ice Tea. Small for the price and tasted a bit weak. Open kitchen so you can see them making your dishes. All safety protocols are in place. Cash and debit only. So if you’re looking for poor service and really good authentic Chinese food, step into Double Double. Here for the food. Not the service.
this place gets 5 stars. the food is so good, the service is also excellent. the crab nooodles is very recommended, and the others, i don’t know what they’re called. be ready to queue up during dinner time. plenty of parking here also. toilets are so-so.
Cheap and fantastic Cantonese cuisine located in the heart of Richmond. This place draws large crowds, and it's no wonder why; the food is excellent for a very affordable price. Best to arrive in a group. I recommend you try the congee and Chinese donut combination.
A Hidden Gem for Classic Cantonese Comfort Food! Double Double Chinese Restaurant is hands down my go-to spot for the best congee and traditional Cantonese comfort food in town. Their deep-fried dough sticks (油條) are unbeatable — always fresh, perfectly crispy on the outside, and light on the inside. The congee is second to none, served piping hot with a silky-smooth texture and a rich, fragrant rice aroma that warms both body and soul. The rice rolls (腸粉) are exceptionally well made — soft, smooth, and delicate, with just the right amount of bounce. They melt in your mouth and pair beautifully with the light soy sauce. Their soy-sauce-fried noodles (鼓油皇炒麵) are full of “wok hei” — that smoky, aromatic flavor from high-heat stir-frying — and the noodles are springy, never greasy, and perfectly cooked. The other stir-fried dishes are also flavorful, well-balanced, and delicious. What makes Double Double truly special is the staff. They are incredibly efficient and hardworking, and more importantly, they remember your face and treat you like a friend. One time, I complimented a staff member on her cute Hello Kitty face mask, and she immediately gave me one — a kind gesture, especially since it wasn’t available in Canada. Moments like that make me feel like I’m being welcomed home — with a table full of comforting, delicious food. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or a cozy meal on a rainy day, Double Double is the place to go. Highly recommended!
First time trying out Double Double, and I don’t understand why it’s only 3.6 stars on Google. The food was fantastic and we were very satisfied! We ordered congee, beef chow fun and long chinese donut. Food: flavour was authentic, rich and delicious. Quantity was fair/generous. Quality was apparent and fresh. We really enjoyed everything we got. Meat was tender and plentiful. Bean sprouts were particularly crisp and refreshing. Noodles were nicely separated and coated. Service: it took awhile to get a booster seat. But otherwise we were able to place our order quickly and food came out in good time. Atmosphere: place was overall clean and booths were comfy. All the warning signs about loud children aren’t welcomed was a bit off putting, but likely our kid dines out well, especially if food comes out quickly. Value: not the cheapest, but very fair for the quality and quantity of food. Will definitely be back.
Best HK Restaurant in Richmond. Their signature dish is the congee and the 炸兩. Congee is as smooth as silk. This time we also tried their rice dishes and the wonton noodle soup. Everything was amazing and nothing to complain about. If you still have space in your tummy, go ahead and try their XO radish cake. Yeah I can’t stop talking about this restaurant, I believe every dish deserves 5 stars so far.
